3D 2 & Screen Culture

Had a great chat with my guy classmate who's from USA. We are in the same 3D class. It made me realise no other guys actually initiated a chat with me until today! Never really expect him to self-intro on his large mail cardboard box he was carrying today! We never talked for the past 4 months during the school term and when we had met a few times at the bus stop near school, we simply smiled at each other like friends. Dont know why he started talking to me. Usually I dont really talk to guys unless they want to talk to me.

But it was really nice to talk to him, hope to be long-term friends with him. :) What's more, his age's same as mine! Yup so happy, I kept thinking all the people I have classes with are younger than me until I found someone who's my age!! Haha

I'm also glad that I am back doing 3D stuff again after a few weeks' lapses. Nearly forgot about what I've learnt in 3D 1 but luckily the new tutor (temp replacement tutor for Steve) patiently taught me what she has taught the class and I could recall and remember what I've learnt before. Phew... thank God for that! Yeah, better start doing 3D early so that I wont have a hard time keeping up with the rest of the class. It was abit unfortunate that Karl couldnt make it but I was not sad or anything. Again, thank goodness the tutor came to me and explained to me how to make a woman's body.

I've also learnt some stuff on a new subject: Screen Culture. Its pretty interesting and refreshing. Non-technical practical work. From School of Art History & Theory. The tutor is also nice. :) Its about how screen (TV, Cinema, Computers screens) culture impacts/shapes the society

Yesterday, actually I was blogging too but when I clicked "Publish Post", my words were gone. My mistake was that I logged off internet! But I didnt know/realise! Argh... that's how I felt then. :( Hmm still dont feel like writing about yesterday's events. My thots n feelings about yesterday's events are not there anymore, so what's the point of writing at the moment?

Tuesday

Wonder where the mysterious lecturer has gone? There was no show at today's lecture and it was the 1st lecture of Digital Video 2! Heard from Karl that he heard from another classmate that John (the senior lecturer who lectured for Digital Video last semester) has gone on a holiday.

Almost all the students have left the lecture theatre after 30 minutes or so. I feel we are owed an explanation of why there was no show today.

Anyway.

Attended Andy's Advanced Multimedia Authoring tutorial this morning. We all brainstormed many ideas in which some of them were interesting.

Hey! At the moment, I am using a cool technology! Make a guess! Here is a hint for Apple lovers: this is the latest mac technology. ;)

Drum roll........

YES! I'm using 20-inch (or 17-inch?) widescreen iMac G5! So cool to see everything without dragging any applications / windows here and there. Yup this cool technology has arrived in this only and one lab. Sooooo cool!!!

Alright, got to do things now.

First Day of School

While being on way back to Sydney by train with my sister, she asked me if I was excited about going back to school. My first thot was "Not really" much to my surprise. Pehaps I was in need of sleep since had to get up at about 7am to go together with my sister.

Took a short nap and felt much better. Was pleasantly happy to see Sachira again! Took the shuttle bus to COFA. While being on way to school, I felt quite excited and optimistic amid happy chatters of younger students. Perhaps, I was affected by their springy, youthful and jovial spirit that I was actually looking forward to school again!

I'm glad things were not awkward or stressful unlike that time when I was trying to familiarise myself with school. I automatically (instinctively) knew how to use the Mac without any problems despite some time of not using it. Things are still same as those times I attended school except my subjects of course.

Attended Andy's lecture and much to my surprise there were very few students taking that elective. In the midst of the lecture, I had the same desire again, that is to learn and implement physical interactions from other devices than boring mouse and keyboard. Thank goodness Andy said there would be physical interactions. YAY! Dont have to do and study programming all the way! Recalled those times when I was doing Flash, it was damn stressful having to do loads of programming especially when I had to learn Flash. But I learnt new things too. :)

I look positively forward to exploring more unknown areas and doing more media works. *being optimistic* Not only that, I do want to get good grades to keep my family and friends proud.

Work hard, girl!

A Brand New YouthBeat, Electives, Media Works & Future

For the past few months, I have been reading updates from YouthBeat. I'm glad that good old Yiyi (Yeah I know you are still young but juz realise that you are one of the "oldest" volunteers among YouthBeat now) together with Xuehui and the rest have been trying to make a new YouthBeat and things have been positively good. I'm so happy to know new faces such as Cherie have been trying to spice up things in YouthBeat! Hope it will last until the next generation takes over and continue its legacy! Many cheers for Yiyi, Xuehui, Cherie & the rest of YouthBeat volunteers!!!

Was a bit upset when I read that one of the electives was cancelled due to a lack of numbers doing that elective. Wanted to do Narrative & Gameplay before that but again, it had to be put on hold. Anyway it was encouraging when I learnt there will be some physical interaction stuff in another elective that the staff recommended to me. Actually 3 subjects that i'm taking are similiar to those 3 subjects I did for last semester but they would be more advanced. Will be doing Digital Video 2, 3D 2, Advanced Multimedia Authoring & Screen Culture for Semester 2 - I hope I will learn more new things from them.

Dont know if I have a talent in media stuff.. when I surfed at www.noise.net, saw so many nice media stuff. Also, at that moment, realised that I dont have artistic media works at the moment. :( So pathetic... Gonna push myself to do more media works.

Also, I started thinking of my future again.. Having reflected on my past works, I realised in order to land a good digital media job, I have to do more good works, learn more things, practise and improve my skills.

The day things went wrong

Yesterday and 2 nights ago, things went wrong, that's not something expected especially when i just came back after a great holiday with my family.

1st, my TV still displays images distortedly due to a possible technical glitch on the decorder. 2ndly, the desktop light fused up. 3rdly, my pc system couldnt load up and i still dunno why. Thus, had to use this laptop to do research and decide on electives and general education subjects for the next semester. The mouse moves here and there right on this screen and I have to click the insertion point to the right position again before I continue typing at this very moment!

And the worst moment of the day was that i accidentally scalded my thumb while moving the plastic container of instant noodles and boiling water. As a result, blister appeared on my front skin of my thumb and it was painful. A burning sensation on my poor little thumb. Now its better.

One of the worst days I ever had in my life. Hope things will get back to normal.

P.S If you are wondering why I never update my blog recently, its that i was away with my family, having loads of fun in Gosford and the city in Sydney. Will post photos online soon.. Hope I can get my pc system fixed asap. God help me!!!
